Flint Studio Celebrates Nelson Mandela 100

“The world remains beset by so much suffering, poverty, and deprivation. It is in your hands to make of our world a better one for all, especially the poor, vulnerable and marginalised.” –  Nelson Mandela

For International Nelson Mandela Day the Flint Studio team donated some supplies to Miracle Mission Children’s Home to hopefully make some difference. The Flint Studio team answered the following questions:

  1. What does Nelson Mandela Day mean to you?
  2. What cause will you be supporting?
  3. What’s your favouriteNelson Mandela quote or moment?

Lisa Maluleke – HR Officer

  1. On Mandela Day I’m always reminded even more so than any other time to appreciate all that I have.  We always tend to be unappreciative of all the privileges we have been afforded and forget to share these with those less fortunate. For me, it’s a time for sharing and reflecting on how far we have come.
  2. Miracle Mission Children’s Home
  3. “When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity.”

Desiree Rowland-Sun – Co-Founder, Strategist

  1. Being thankful for what I have and supporting those who are not as fortunate as I or are not able to help themselves.
  2. The team selected Miracle Mission Children’s Home for this year and we are donating food and groceries.
  3. “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

Alex van Wyk – Digital Designer

  1. He impacted the country I was born into, so in some way, he has impacted all of our futures.
  2. Miracle Mission Children’s Home
  3. “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

Kenneth Sun – Co-Founder, Managing Director

  1. He embodies fairness, strength and the will to thrive in the face of brutality
  2. We will be supporting smaller charities
  3. “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

Sibulele Sikuni – Digital Content Manager

  1. Nelson Mandela Day means that even those who would not necessarily do charity work, at least for one day get to involve themselves in some way. It teaches us to be compassionate.
  2. I’m aware that registered non-profit organisations will be receiving some help so this year I’ll be donating clothes to the homeless people who live around my area. Also, our Flint Studio team will be helping out the Miracle Mission Children’s Home this year!
  3. “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

Tinashe Chafanza – Web Developer

  1. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Priya Nayer – Project Manager

  1. It is a day of change. It means giving back to those that are less fortunate. Playing my part where I can.
  2. We as a company will be supporting: Miracle Mission Home for Children
  3. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Dorothy Diaz – Project Manager

  1. Nelson Mandela Day is a day that we celebrate Mandela’s life and the work that he dedicated to fighting against the unjust laws that used to govern South Africa.  I also put time aside to do charitable work for 67 minutes.
  2. I have put together food parcels with my church and these will go to homeless shelters.
  3. “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
